Artist Comments

The Ocean City Pier was built around one of the block towers that were built in the 1940's for Operation Bumblebee, a US Government project that helped develop the ramjet engine. After the project was discontinued, the area was developed during the time of racial segregation as Ocean City, a beach for persons of color. This pier  was destroyed during the  hurricanes of the early 1990's and the structure remains in private hands. Giclee reproductions are available.
